Usage & Suitability
This spreader bar is suited for:
- Spreading loose soil after delivery or stockpiling
- Levelling soil across yards, garden areas and landscaping sites
- Preparing areas before turf, garden beds or further surface work
- Smoothing loose fill after bucket placement
- General site clean-up where a loader can push and spread material efficiently
- Contractors and property owners working with a compatible loader setup
This attachment is not intended for deep excavation, breaking hard ground, ripping rock, heavy demolition or precision laser grading.
Power, Fuel & Operation Notes
The spreader bar itself does not need fuel or power. It works as a loader attachment and must be used with a compatible mini loader, small skid steer or suitable carrier machine.
Before booking, confirm the machine being used, bucket setup, attachment method and material being spread. The operator should be competent with the loader and understand the site conditions before starting work.
Transport & Delivery Notes
The spreader bar is an attachment, so transport needs to suit its size, weight, loading method and tie-down requirements. If you are collecting, confirm vehicle or trailer suitability before arrival.
Delivery and collection may be available within 50 km of Greenbank, depending on timing, access and booking details. Delivery is charged one way from depot to site where applicable.
Safety & Practical Notes
- Confirm machine compatibility before hire
- Use only with a suitable loader and competent operator
- Keep people clear of the working area while spreading or levelling
- Check for underground services, soft edges, slopes and hidden obstacles before operating
- Avoid using the attachment for hard ripping, rock breaking or tasks outside its intended use
- Return the attachment reasonably clean and ready for inspection
Level Soil Faster With The Right Loader Setup
A spreader bar is useful when the job is too large or slow for rakes and shovels, but does not need a dedicated grader. It helps a loader spread loose soil more evenly across an area, making it a practical option for landscaping, acreage work, yard preparation and site finishing.
Choose this attachment when you need to move and smooth loose material across a wider area. It can be especially helpful after soil has been tipped on site and needs to be spread before final hand finishing, turf work or further preparation.
For tight access, small yards or lighter work, a mini loader setup may be more suitable. For heavier earthmoving, excavation or bulk material removal, an excavator, skid steer bucket or tipper truck may be a better choice. We can help you work out whether the spreader bar is the right attachment for your job before you book.
Short Hire Notes
Minimum hire is 24 hours. Same rates apply every day, including weekends and public holidays. Pick-up and return must be within business hours, with no after-hours return.
A bond applies per item and is released after return and inspection. For delivery jobs, a site contact with ID must be available for handover.
FAQs
What is a spreader bar used for?
A spreader bar is used with a compatible loader to spread and level loose soil. It is useful for landscaping, yard preparation, site clean-up and smoothing material after it has been placed with a bucket or tipped on site.
Is this spreader bar suitable for turf preparation?
It can help spread and level soil before turf preparation, especially over larger areas. Final levels, compaction and finishing may still need additional work depending on the site and finish required.
Does the spreader bar come with a loader?
No. The spreader bar is an attachment. A compatible loader, skid steer or track-loader style machine needs to be booked separately if required.
Will it fit my skid steer or track loader?
Fitment must be confirmed before booking. The supplier information supports use with mini loaders and small skid steer loaders, but the machine, bucket and attachment setup need to be checked before hire.
Can I use it for gravel, sand or road base?
The confirmed supplier use is for spreading and levelling soils. If you want to use it for sand, gravel or road base, check with us before booking so we can confirm whether it suits the material and site conditions.
Is this attachment suitable for hard ground?
No. This is a spreading and levelling attachment, not a ripper, excavator or breaker. Hard ground, rock, compacted clay or demolition work may need different equipment.
Does the spreader bar need fuel or power?
No. The attachment itself does not need fuel or electricity. The loader or carrier machine used with it will have its own fuel and operating requirements.
What should I prepare before hiring it?
Confirm the material you need to spread, the approximate area, site access, surface condition, slopes, machine being used and whether you also need a compatible loader. Clear obstacles from the work area before operation.

Useful attachment for spreading soil across a larger yard area. It saved a lot of time compared with trying to level everything by hand.

Good option when paired with the right loader. Helped spread loose fill more evenly before final finishing.

Simple attachment, but very handy for landscaping prep. The main thing was confirming the machine setup before the hire.

Made site clean-up easier after soil was tipped. We still did some hand finishing, but the bulk spreading was much quicker.

Helpful for getting material moved and levelled before the next stage of work. Good choice for loose soil jobs.
