Power / Water / Operation Notes
This is a corded electric drilling setup. Power supply requirements should be confirmed before pickup or delivery, especially if the site has limited access to power.
The DM230 supports wet and dry drilling, but the right setup depends on the material, core bit, drilling direction and site conditions. Water, slurry and dust control should be planned before work starts. Confirm the drilling material and hole size with us before hire so the correct setup can be discussed.
Transport & Delivery Notes
The drill motor and stand are separate pieces, making the setup easier to move than one large fixed unit. Please allow safe space for loading, unloading and handling.
Pickup can be arranged from Flourish Hire, or delivery and collection may be available within 50 km of our Greenbank depot. Delivery is charged one-way from depot to site where applicable. For delivery, a site contact with ID must be available for handover.
Safety & Practical Notes
Core drilling can involve dust, slurry, water, vibration and hidden services. Check the drilling location before starting work and avoid drilling into areas where electrical, plumbing, post-tension cables or other services may be present.
Use the equipment within its intended limits and follow the supplied manual or hire guidance. For overhead, angled or difficult drilling, confirm suitability before booking. Return the equipment reasonably clean and report any faults or damage as soon as possible.
Cleaner Core Holes For Services, Pipes And Fixings
This core drill and stand setup is best for jobs where a standard hammer drill is not enough. If you need a cleaner, rounder hole through concrete or masonry for pipework, conduit, ventilation or service access, a core drill is usually the better choice.
The stand helps keep the drill more stable than handheld drilling, especially when working with larger diameter core bits or when the hole needs to stay straight. This makes it useful for plumbers, electricians, builders, renovators and concreters who need controlled drilling on slabs, walls or masonry structures.
Before booking, think about the hole diameter, drilling depth, material type, whether the hole is in a wall or floor, how water or slurry will be managed, and whether the work area has safe access. If the job involves thick reinforced concrete, overhead drilling, difficult access or unknown services, speak with us first so we can help confirm whether this equipment is suitable.
Short Hire Notes
Hire is based on a minimum 24-hour period, with the same rates applying every day, including weekends and public holidays. We are open Monday to Sunday, 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, with no after-hours pickup or return.
A $200 bond applies per item and is released after return and inspection. Delivery and collection may be available within 50 km, depending on location and access. Please return the drill and stand clean, complete and ready for inspection.
FAQ Section
What is this core drill with stand used for?
It is used for drilling clean round holes through concrete, brick, block and masonry. Common jobs include plumbing pipe penetrations, electrical conduit holes, ventilation openings and service access holes.
What size holes can the Husqvarna DM230 and DS150 drill?
The stand-mounted setup is rated for core drilling up to 150 mm. The drill motor is rated for handheld drilling up to 75 mm, but handheld use should only be considered where the job is suitable and safe.
Are core bits included with the hire?
Core bit options need to be confirmed before booking. Tell us the hole diameter, material and drilling depth so the correct bit availability and setup can be checked.
Can this core drill be used for plumbing and electrical work?
Yes, this setup is commonly suited to plumbing and electrical penetration work, including pipe holes, conduit holes and service access through concrete or masonry. The final suitability depends on the hole size, material, access and site conditions.
Can it drill into walls and floors?
Yes, the Husqvarna DS150 stand is designed for drilling in walls and floors. It can also be used for selected ceiling applications, but overhead drilling should be discussed before booking because it can involve extra risk and setup requirements.
Does this core drill need water?
The drill supports wet and dry drilling, but the correct method depends on the material, bit and job setup. Wet drilling may create slurry, while dry drilling may create dust, so plan site protection and cleanup before starting.
Is this suitable for DIY use?
It may be suitable for experienced DIY users on straightforward jobs, but it is mainly a trade-style tool. If you have not used a core drill before, contact us with the job details so we can help you decide whether it is the right hire option.
Can Flourish Hire deliver the core drill and stand?
Delivery and collection may be available within 50 km of our Greenbank depot. Share your site address, preferred dates, access details and contact person so delivery options can be confirmed.
What should I check before hiring this equipment?
Confirm the hole diameter, material, drilling direction, site access, power availability, water or slurry control, and whether hidden services may be present. For structural concrete or uncertain areas, get the area checked before drilling.
When should I choose another option instead?
If the job involves very large holes, heavy reinforced concrete, difficult overhead drilling, unknown services, restricted access or structural risk, you may need a specialist coring contractor or different equipment. Contact us before booking if you are unsure.

“The stand made the drilling setup feel much more controlled than trying to manage a large hole by hand. Good option for service penetrations where the hole position matters.”

“Useful for getting cleaner holes through masonry without making a mess of the surrounding surface. Confirming the bit size before pickup made the job easier to plan.”

“Good hire choice for plumbing and conduit work. The separate drill and stand were practical to move and set up on site.”

“Helped avoid the rough finish we would have had with a basic hammer drill. Better suited to controlled round holes through concrete.”

“Worth checking access, water control and hole size before booking. Once the job details were clear, the setup made sense for the work.”
